Clicks from the Gumroad Library should not be charged the Discover fee.#162

It makes absolutely no sense why Gumroad charges the extra 10% Discover fee when existing customers click back to the creator’s profile/shop from the Library & then make another purchase.

The whole point of using Gumroad is so that digital files are delivered (via the Library). Now you are charging an extra 10% fee for this very basic premise of Gumroad’s service.

By the very name “Discover,” one would expect the fee would only get charged for purchases from users who Gumroad helps “Discover” our products (ie. from discover.gumroad.com)

Referring existing / repeat customers from Library is not an appropriate scenario at all to charge the “Discover” fee. Adding this fee really cheapens the Gumroad value prop of “$0 to start selling online” and makes your pricing look shady, with questionable hidden fees.

Seriously investigating alternatives unless this gets fixed soon — I’d prefer to pay a monthly fee to one of the other providers who charge 0%, instead of giving up an extra 10% to Gumroad for my repeat customers.

I agree! Discover is a bit odd right now.

Cannot believe it has been 8 months since this was posted and this is still going on. Moving off Gumroad before New Years 2023.

This has gotten even worse with the (totally unneccessary) elimination of checkout overlay. Now 1 in 2 times when a customer buys multiple products, I get charged an extra 10% even though the sale did not come from Discover.

I’ve been a big fan of Gumroad for years, but hidden fees are completely ruining the platform.

Done! No more Discover fees.
