Show total price (net price + VAT) on Product Page#23

?

Due to consumer protection regulations in Germany (and maybe the rest of EU), the total price (net price + VAT) needs to be shown in online shops.

At Gumroad, the product/sales pages only show the net price and add VAT only when continuing the order process.

In order to be legal compliant, it would be great to show the total price also on product/sales pages

Fully agree to this one! It’s also much more transparent towards my (mostly EU-based) customers - to some of them it feels scammy/dodgy to not see the VAT-included price until at checkout (even though I’m adding a notice in the description - the design as it is makes it look as if I’m trying to hide the VAT)

Totally agree, I am really waiting for this one since I don’t want to get cease-and-desisted for this

I’m failry sure they’re complying with tax law (at least in the UK and Ireland where they operate), but it still user (and creator!) hostile to show one price on the sales page and another during checkout. Just allow us to set the shop to display prices including VAT!

Couldn’t agree more. This is really crazy situation to find on gumroad, to be frank, and one stopping me from using the platform.

I’ve shared this in another post but here it is;

This is a HUGE must for sellers and for Gumroad. It is such a massive, massive sales-killer for customers to suddenly be told that they have to pay a higher amount. It’s also illegal in the EU to even do so: (https://europa.eu/youreurope/citizens/consumers/unfair-treatment/unfair-pricing/index_en.htm)

Again, while this might be common in the US to have sales tax added later, it is > completely alien < for many other countries, and as stated above, even illlegal.

Buying and selling culture change from country to country. Gumroad should adapt quickly to the reality outside of the US to not lose everyone a huge number of sales.

I have everything set up on Gumroad to launch a course and now I realized how scammy this part will appear… As if paying in USD wasn’t enough of a surprise in the checkout, there’s also an added tax.
