Over 95% of the 1-3 star reviews on the templates we sell on Gumroad are from customers who didn’t read/follow the instructions &/or never sent us a customer support request.
Almost every time, these negative reviews are for products with hundreds of other happy customers who have no such complaints.
There should be a pre-requisite such that buyers cannot leave low reviews unless they first click “Contact Seller” in Gumroad Library. This way, you prevent low ratings from users who never contacted support about an issue that could have been resolved by properly following the instructions for use.
Allowing these kinds of low-quality reviews to skew the overall results is a universal problem for all ratings & review platforms, but Gumroad has a simple way to solve it by tracking clicks on the “Contact Seller” button.
