Add ability to disable GLOBAL Affiliate links on your store#356

E

I find it very upsettting that anyone can create a global affiliate link and claim my income on my store. I shouldn’t have to be penalized by disabling Discover to prevent THEFT from my income. I do not consent to anyone other than gumroad taking my hard earned income. If I want an affiliate, I will make an affiliate link. This is absolutely rediculous that this was even implemented in the first place.

Give us an option to opt in or out. Simple as that. Come on gumroad…

Id like this to be disabled by default as well as having the option.

While more promotion and sales is a good idea, I do not want to randomly affiliate my products with individuals I do not know or, worse, oppose my ethics and morals - this should not be something that I have to deal with if I want to continue using the discover feature.

Discover takes a 10% cut if it’s not a direct product link - even if I have discover disabled for a product, if someone goes by library or any other extended URL I will get 10% cut of my sale.

With this being forced onto everyone, that adds another 10% off a sale value…

A creator shouldn’t have to make it harder for people to find their products just to prevent random “affiliates” from stealing their income. It’s extremely counter-productive and choices like this are what has been driving people towards other methods of selling digital goods. Sellers already have to give away part of their income just to have discover enabled in the first place, but for that to mean that anybody can take an additional cut from a person’s products on top of that is ridiculous. This not only damages sellers, but also discourages buyers, as it causes sellers to have to increase their prices even further just to make a profit. The fact that income security and safety wasn’t considered before pushing this out as an update is ridiculous and just shows that Gumroad has a lack of concern for the people who generate the website’s income overall.

This makes no sense at all why this was implemented. There is already a feature where us as creators can generate our own affiliate links for who we chose as affiliates. This platform should be designed with creators in mind and to aid creators in selling products, not to take away more revenue from OUR work.

This is not okay. Consider the 100s of hours some people put into what they sell. Now someone else can make profit just by sharing a link? Thats just bull to be completly honest. They did nothing to contribute to the project. Nothing.

Hi friends. Could you please vote up for any Payoneer topic? Just by “search -> Payoneer” and vote up.
It’s really needed option, because PayPal suspend accounts randomly and you have not reserve payout ways for this case.

I agree. I don’t think others should be able to make affiliate sales from your products, unless you add them as an affiliate.
