Enable and configure multiple currencies and prices for a product/subscription depending on the buyer country.
I think it would help growth for international sellers.
As an example for the same checkout page (same product).
US customer show $99
DE customer show €79 + VAT -> With the implementation of #23
UK customer show £69 + VAT
and so on…
(or some pricing like we see in the EU, that we define that the price is €99 with VAT)
Why would customers want that?
For sellers:
In my opinion, this is absolutely crucial.
Customers must be charged in their own currency and not USD conversion.
I am based in Spain, and I regularly get complaints from customers because after USD/EUR conversion and subsequent credit card fees for USD purchase, they were charged a different amount than expected.
Completely agree - well explained!
As a stopgap solution it would help to explain to customers that a conversion will occur.
It is until then a big reason to avoid offering anything in anything other than USD. Which is obviously leaving so many sales on the table until that changes.
It would also make gumroad an absolute beast of a selling platform, as so few others offer this.
That said, checkoutjoy, a much smaller startup does offer such a feature.
Also, if I’m based in Europe and buy in dollars (even for digital assets) are they declared as abroad purchase? i.e. I have to pay “import” taxes or would my bank account be cancelled as I declared it to be used NOT for making business from outside my country?
